Love the author's approach to helping babies sleep better

Love the author's approach to helping babies sleep better! We weren't comfortable with the cry it out approach so I'm glad to have found another philosophy. I've been using some strategies from the book for the last few weeks and 4 1/2 month old baby is sleeping longer. Still have a long way to go in that department but I feel like we have more of a plan now on how to move forward.
My 2 favorite parts of the book :
1. The tone is very non-judgemental. Being a new parent is already overwhelming at times and I didn't like other sources dictating the "right" way to do things. I appreciate the whatever-works-for-your-family-is-right message in this book. She gives many suggestions to try but does not dictate one "right" solution.
2. There are many strategies in the book to use based on what the sleep issue is. The author outlines all the different reasons babies don't sleep through the night, describes how to identify which reasons apply to your baby, and what strategies to try based on each reason. The strategies can be used alone or combined based on what sleep issues are going on for your baby. There is also consideration for the baby's age and what strategies are appropriate for each age.

It really does work!

I have read many books on baby sleep and the books by Heidi Holvoet are definitely the best and most helpful. The tips are very hands-on, loving and really work with no tears, which was very important to us. I was really relieved after reading the book and thought "finally someone that understands". Our nights have improved tremendously. Other books often only suggest "put the baby down awake". Great, but what if this just does not work? This book offers specific advice for many, many typical situations with a baby and guides you to the ultimate goal of sleeping through the night - very detailled, very to the point and yet easy to read and easy to follow. I can only recommend this book and I wish I would have already read it during my pregnancy. I also recommend "No Tears Self-Soothing " and "No Tears Naps" by the same author. Through these books we were finally also able to structure our days, have better nights and ultimately have a happy and relaxed baby (and mommy).

peace of mind helpfull advice

This book is a great review of all factors 'sleep related ' for parents after the ultimate goal of having a child sleep through the night, and regain sanity and quality of life
It's refreshing and easy to read when tired ( whic is very important ) and great to know that the author does not advocate controlled crying - rather provides other helpful alternatives and possible reasons for night waking . I've read quite a few baby sleep books (with a 2.5 y old and an 11 mth old baby )this book was a refreshing change from the regimented structures and hard to implement advice in other books. I'll be trying out her sleep log and some of her easy tips and hopefully I'll have a bub that sleeps through soon.
